New Zealand families are getting in on an increasingly popular summer activity dubbed "gramping".
Gramping is the term given for young children and grandparents camping while the parents come and go according to their work demands.
Department of Conservation media advisor Leigh-Anne Wiig said it seemed to be happening more as parents often had to work and didn't have enough annual leave to cover the entire school holidays. Read more ...

Once again Freedom campers are in th enews for all the wrong reasons. the districts want the tourist dollars. My thoughts are give the tourists some toilets and rubbish bins. Why take their dollars, give them food and packaging and then complain when they have waste to get rid of. There are easy solutions.

From NZ Herald - Freedom camping is to be banned over the summer holidays at Bowentown's idyllic Anzac Bay, the Western Bay of Plenty District Council decided today.The decision to prohibit self-contained motor homes from the start of the third week of December to February 10 followed public feedback that the bay looked like a camping ground over the summer.
