About the event
Come and celebrate Norway Day in Norsewood Weekend of 18th & 19th May 2024 We are staying at Mathews Park, 28 Ngamoko Road, Upper Norsewood, for our camping area and welcome all campers, dogs MUST be on leads at all times as there are farms surrounding the park and we shouldn’t have to add clean up after them. Onsite are toilets and a basic kitchen area is available as well as the hall space, water is tank water and limited supply so come with water tanks full, nearest Dumpstation is Dannevirke or Waipukarau. Gravel parking and grass for tenters, $5 per camper vehicle per night, all money goes back in to keeping the facility going, so donations accepted, the park committie and Norsewood Community are wanting to build a replica Viking Longhouse on the site they now need donations. Area with outdoor tables for gatherings, depending on Fire Season we may be allowed to have a fire in the gatherinig area and toast some smores etc but thats TBC On the Saturday 18th a local, Eva, will be taking a walking tour starting at the cemetary and finishing at the Natural Wool Company shop in lower Norsewood. There is usually a chance to feed the eels at the wop wops park Then on the Sunday 19th Norway Day there are activities and celebrations happening in the town, more details on that to follow. Weather depending Keith may run a small Stargazing thing and a quick talk about basic night photography, again TBC
